Snowden Threatens to Release Trove of Secrets if Captured

June 30, 2013 at 10:57 pm

America’s most-wanted leaker has a backup plan.

If anything happens to Edward Snowden, a massive trove of top-secret data will be released to the world — which could hurt US intelligence, sources said.

NSA leaker Snowden — who is wanted on espionage charges — has the data backed up and stored in a vault or safe, the sources told the Sunday Times of London.

Snowden is believed to have left his laptops in Hong Kong, and has been hiding from law enforcement in a Moscow airport.

The confidential files, downloaded from NSA computers, are being held as an “insurance policy”— and if released, they could be devastating to US intelligence agencies.

The journalist to whom Snowden leaked the documents said the former NSA contractor confirmed that the files were in good hands.

“[Snowden] has taken extreme precautions to make sure many different people around the world have these archives to insure the stories will inevitably be published,” Guardian reporter Glenn Greenwald told the Daily Beast.

“If anything happens at all to Edward Snowden, he told me he has arranged for them to get access to the full archive.”

Snowden has warned authorities that he can’t be silenced.

“All I can say right now is the US government is not going to be able to cover this up by jailing or murdering me,” Snowden said on June 17. “The truth is coming, and it cannot be stopped.”

Snowden has been trying to flee to Ecuador.

But Vice President Joe Biden asked that country’s leader to turn down the request, it was revealed yesterday.

“The moment that he arrives, if he arrives, the first thing is we’ll ask the opinion of the United States, as we did in the [Wikileaks founder Julian] Assange case with England,” President Rafael Correa said. “But the decision is ours to make.”

He had flown there when he got kicked out of Hong Kong, where he had hoped to stay.

Lawyers met Snowden at a Hong Kong safe house on June 18, where the paranoid former NSA contractor made his guests store their phones in the fridge to avoid surveillance.

If this is what he has to do to stay “safe”, more power to him. I don’t wish that these secrets be revealed, but with the way our current political leaders are behaving, maybe they need something like this to wake them up?

If I had a son, he’d be Edward Snowden!

Things happen for a reason, perhaps Snowden releasing these “truths about our government” will help get America turned back and headed in a more positive recovery.

Falsely charging Snowden is like charging anyone saying we have CIA spies in the world for espionage. Naming the spies would be punishable, and giving technical specifics about the NSA spy programs would be too–but that is not what Snowden did. Snowden’s “crime” is being a whistle blower on improper government activity we are supposed to be protected from by existing law–that our government is trying to keep hidden by calling it espionage. The only “secrets” Snowden released was that the NSA had found a judge to allow criminal wiretapping under the guise of Homeland Security. The fact that the NSA is gathering email and phone conversations is NOT normal “secret” or super secret information, but it is illegal NSA activity. Real world is that the disclosure embarrassed Obama, and like a petulant spoiled child, he is going to get even. American citizens should demand Congress investigate this as a violation of the whistle blower laws before our government makes everyone afraid to disclose any of their illegal activities–like FBI spying on us, IRS targeting us, wiretapping reporters, and the recent Obama edict that all government employees must spy on each other and report any suspicious activity or anyone under stress such as a divorce. Is this now GESTAPO Nazi Germany? BE OUTRAGED!!! SPEAK UP!!!

Snowden is not ‘paranoid.’ He, more than anyone, knows how EVIL THE US EMPIRE IS.

    Impeach Obama. Snowden for President!
