It should be about time that churches define and defend morality, it is fundamental to Christian doctrine. Much of morality is clearly at issue within politics, the very word Politically Correct is a telling tale of this problem. Although Scottish sociologist R.M. MacIver stated that one cannot legislate morality, he clearly articulately the need to preserve the fabric of society, and that politically we should NOT contradict the social values of the populace. Instead, what our American political system has done is to advance a psycho-social sexually charged changing of laws to promote the most perverse of behaviors, not to curb them. These political values are often devoid of Christian character and many seek these laws to alienate our nation from its Christian heritage and subvert the intentions of a moral society articulated by mainstream Christianity. So pastors and priests can and should decry these perverse and immoral “values”, most often promulgated by the leftists, and attack the politics head on. Early church leaders did this very thing when condemning slavery; much of the abolition movement came as a result of local and saddleback preachers who spread the word of this immoral practice. We should do this again, attacking the very PC crowd and the politicians who support these errant views.
