An Obama ’08 Voter Says, “Not This Time!”

September 27, 2012 at 5:00 am / by

Here’s a passionate plea about the upcoming election from Kirin Menghini, an Omaha, Nebraska wife, mother and grandmother. She recently changed her voter registration from Democrat to Independent and plans to vote for Mitt Romney, in dismay over the Obama Administration’s policies. The story of how this spunky cancer survivor’s support for Barack Obama has completely unraveled is a testament that it is possible for Obama supporters to change their minds. There’s no time like the present for each of us to help make that happen.— PolitiChick Susan Darst Williams

People who vote for President Obama scare me . . . oops! I am talking about myself, sad to say.

In 2008 I decided to vote for Barack Obama. Now I’m kicking myself, bigtime. I’ve never regretted anything so much in my life.

I am glad to have such a great candidate to support as Mitt Romney. He will be so much better than Obama. Maybe I can make up for my mistake in ’08 by voting more wisely this time. And that wise vote will be for Romney.

Why did I support Obama in ’08? Surface things: I thought he was a great speaker and I believed in his promise of CHANGE. Also, peer pressure: I have been a Democrat my whole life and have strongly supported the Democrats because I was a union worker. My CWA union strongly encouraged me to support Obama.

But . . . I wish I could take back that vote. After the excitement of Election Day, his Inauguration, and the first few weeks in office, my smile turned into a puzzled frown as Obama did a steady stream of things I disagreed with. Now, my opinion of him has totally flipped.

I will not vote for Obama again because after four years of his CHANGE it now terrifies me. I love my country; I can’t see that he does, because he keeps doing things that hurt us.

Lately, I have spent most of my free time on Facebook with anti-Obama postings, trying to make amends for the wrong I have done by voting for him. I will now be able to look into my children’s and grandchildren’s faces, telling them that I did try to get him ousted out of office.

I have lost many friends and also have been blocked by family members because of my postings. It makes me sad that people won’t listen to someone they know and love, or are so blind to the obvious problems, mismanagement and corruption in the Obama regime. It is as if they are in a trance conjured by the left-wing media to overlook the evidence.

This experience has shown me that the media in this country is biased beyond belief, that journalists have improperly crossed the line into partisanship, and, incredibly,  censorship is alive and well in this land which puts freedom of speech first in our Constitution.

How did this happen? Propaganda . . . intimidation . . . nastiness . . . it’s the opposite of the American ideal.

So . . . while I still have the opportunity of freedom of speech, I will try to get the word out about Obama, since the media won’t.

Obama says he is for the middle class — but I sure have not seen it. Jobs are still being outsourced to other countries (NAFTA started this fiasco that was Bill Clinton’s idea). Obama hasn’t stopped that direct hit to middle-class prosperity.

Obama has not done anything as far as tax breaks to corporations that bring back jobs to the United States for AMERICANS (he talks the talk but hasn’t done it).

He says Congress blocks him. Well, why doesn’t he use his executive powers like he did when he bypassed Congress and granted almost two million illegals the right to stay in this country? AS IF he had that power! Incredible! It’s clear he doesn’t care about the 23 million American citizens who need jobs. He kicked them in the pants, bigtime, with that horrible move.

Why on Earth do we have 125,000 visas to bring in foreign workers granted here every month, when only 87,000 jobs are created? Do the math, people.

My husband’s carpenters’ union magazine is written half in Spanish. Please explain to me why the unions are supporting this travesty. Why are they still supporting Obama, the hammer that is smacking them on the anvil?

Many people in the trades are out of work, or their salaries have been slashed so low. The people coming over here are not taking crummy, low-paying jobs, either. They are engineers, nurses, software workers, etc., taking what should be good American jobs, only at lower wages.  Our children are working hard to graduate from college and have to compete with all the people on visas who will work for less money.

Guess who the businesses will hire? It’s outrageous.

I also have experience working in the school system with ESL (English as a Second Language) students, many of them illegal immigrants. It costs $15,000 a year per student to educate them. One man brought his family of six children whom he had fathered with his wife, and he also brought his mistress and the six children he had fathered with her.

That’s TWELVE illegal children brought to the school at $15,000 per child . . . totaling over $180,000 a year . . . by one man, who is not even a citizen and hasn’t lifted a finger to become one.

Never mind the free health care and all the other benefits we were providing this family, too. As you can imagine, it was interesting in the classroom because these children did not get along – they felt “entitled” and you couldn’t discipline them. It was a nightmare.

Our country can’t afford this, on so many levels. The ESL students had educational aides to help them, but we can’t provide aides for American citizens’ children who are struggling in school because “we can’t afford it.”

Hunhhh?  Obama is encouraging illegal immigration to this country. He is FOR lawlessness. It’s sad to see. In fact, he has an illegal aunt and uncle who he will not deport. His aunt is illegal and was supposed to have been deported many years ago. She has been collecting off the welfare system for years; there is a video stating that it is America’s job to support her.

Hunhhh? I just don’t understand this. Illegal immigrants cost this country $383 billion a year and growing. Romney will enforce the immigration laws along with all others, in stark contrast to Obama, and that’s just another reason we need Romney in the White House.

Another big item: it is very distressing to see our debt so high that our children will never to be able to pay it down. My husband and I have worked very, very hard to get out of debt and stay out of debt. We expect our nation’s leaders to at least take a stab at it. If we can do it, why can’t they?

But noooo. The national debt is up to $16 trillion and growing every day. Obama has increased it by an incredible $5 trillion. Never mind Obamacare and what that would do to increase the debt beyond belief.

Obamacare is another disaster in the making. I had cancer surgery last February and lost my kidney to it. I was fortunate that I had good care. I shudder to think what Obamacare would do to shut that down for others in the future. I was speaking with a 55-year-old nurse who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and received great care; she is terrified that, if it comes back, they won’t even treat her if Obamacare is left standing. As hard as she has worked in her life, it’s a crying shame that she has to worry like that.

I am amazed that people think Obamacare is somehow going to be the answer.  Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid, welfare and the Post Office all are financial disasters . . . please tell me why you think Obamacare will be a success, when everything our government touches goes broke.

Most people say they will pay the fine rather than buy health care. They say the fine will be a lot cheaper. Many businesses will do the same. So who will pick up the tab when everyone decides to do that? Yes, our taxes will go sky high, even more than they already are.

I am not in favor of bigger government. I do not believe in socialism. I feel Obama wants people to be dependent on government. That’s the opposite of what I believe. I believe we should give hand-ups, not hand-outs. We need to get people working again. We should not make welfare the answer. We should be able to supplement the working poor instead of encouraging them not to work at all.

But those don’t appear to be Obama’s goals. He doesn’t agree that people need to be independent and accountable so that they can have self-respect. He wants there to be one top tier of elite snobs at the top, and everybody else is a Smurf, dependent on government, relegated to scrounging and scamming to get by.

Have you ever watched ants at an ant farm?  None of them sits around; every one has a job and gives their all. That is how we need to be. That’s the American Way, which Obama somehow doesn’t understand.

I also have a problem that he is supposed to be on the clock, working for us American citizens, but instead he has been campaigning for himself for the last 1½ years, on our dime. The whole Middle East is in chaos, but he was in Vegas, fund-raising with Beyonce and Jay Z. He also is on the Letterman show, the View . . . it’s depressing and embarrassing to see this.

Everyone knew it was a terrorist attack in Libya, but he wouldn’t say it, because it would make him look bad as he was out fund-raising instead of doing his job as the Middle East exploded. Could you ever have imagined a President who would do that?

I have a question, too: am I the only one who is offended by Obama making a logo out of our American flag? It violates the U.S. Flag Code, and it’s downright sacrilegious to the dignity of American history. Shameful! He has defaced our flag with his egotistical logo. So many people have died for that flag.

I want to live for it . . . for my family, myself, my country and our future.

But here’s the truth: Obama doesn’t “get” America. He just doesn’t.

Well, I have so many more reasons why we can’t re-elect Obama it would fill a book as thick as the Bible. Please be smarter than I was in 2008. Please consider your vote with all your heart and mind. Join me in November voting for Mitt Romney, and putting an end to this national nightmare. Four years from now, you’ll still be proud of THAT decision!

  1. Jon Egan says:

I too lost a kidney to renal cell carcinoma back in 2004, and have had metastasis twice now, as my Oncologist at City of Hope in So California told me, “I’m glad Obamacare isn’t in force, because you do realize we wouldn’t be able to do this lung resection,(the cancer spread to both my lungs) the tumor wouldn’t be considered life threatening at this stage!”
I’ve now lost my primary care doctor, because he can’t afford to practice under Obamacare,
My Cardiologist is actually closing his practice due to Obamacare…
Good luck with your continued remission and here’s to President Mitt Romney.
