Once upon a time, if you wanted reliable information you looked no further than your local news.   Not so much today.

A news crew from WHIO-TV recently interviewed convicted rapist Jerome McCorry about his opinion on gun control.  McCorry is a man who is unable to own a firearm because of his own felony conviction and yet he was asked how he feels about rights that belong to law-abiding citizens.

(Hmmm…a rapist who’s against gun control?  Who would have thought!)

Of course criminals are against gun control; they want to be in control of them!  However the news station fully neglected to disclose this pertinent information about the man and his background when they interviewed him.

Katie Dattalo, an Ohioan and blogger at Domestic Debacle, brought this story to my attention. She says in her blog post, “[I]nterviewing someone for a TV segment who is a RAPIST is not the person to talk to about taking away someone else’s rights. He’s been there, he’s done that and he got the orange jump-suit to prove it.” Kate goes on to describe the reaction she got after calling WHIO-TV about this and was told that they interviewed him “because McCrorry’s message is about community harmony through peace and non-violence.”

“WHIO thinks that his message was peaceful and harmonious when he was raping his defenseless victim?” Dattalo said. “Simply put, gun control is not about reducing violence. It’s about control. Just like rape isn’t about sex. It’s about control. Which makes sense for Jerome McCorry, a rapist, to be advocating for gun control. It’s up to our media how they portray an individual.”

Well, Katie, I could not have said it better myself.

Tiffany Kelly, another Ohioan and wife of a law enforcement officer added:

“I don’t care which side of the ‘Gun-Control’ fence you stand on. A convicted rapist should never be allowed to go on television to tout their beliefs on gun control. Even more disturbing is that the news venues knew that the person they were interviewing not only has a criminal background but a rape conviction! This is not a couple of speeding tickets or even a drug charge. This person used force to rape another human being and now he is on television telling the public why guns aren’t safe. I am completely disgusted by this.”

So WHIO-TV, what do you have to say for yourself? You knew the background of Mr. McCrorry, yet you considered him to be the ideal spokesperson for touting the ‘other side’. You interviewed law-abiding citizens about how they felt about their right to defend themselves and then you interviewed a known rapist about his thoughts on rights, which he himself doesn’t even have because of his criminal conviction! Come on… you’re smarter than that (at least you should be). You’re supposed to be non-biased. Oh, wait. I forgot. The media always has an agenda.

WHIO-TV… I await your response. It’s important for those of us in the media to report the whole truth… not just what suits your agenda.

A special thanks to Buckeye Firearms Association for breaking this initial story and for providing detailed information about Mr. McCrorry’s background.

This is America, ever hear of Freedom of speech? Felon or not he does have the right to say what he wants.

    • Karen O'Day says:

For a man that has no gun rights because of his felony conviction…. No, he does not have a right to speak out about taking LAW-ABIDING citizens’ rights away from them. If he had raped you or your family member, would you want him speaking out about how he wants to take away the rights of law-abiding people to defend themselves? Nope, I don’t think so.

Keep in mind that felons lose their civil rights upon conviction – the right to vote, the right to firearms, to serve on a jury, etc… so to speak about rights you don’t have simply doesn’t make sense. And the ‘journalist’ was negligent in not disclosing McCrorry’s criminal conviction as a part of his ‘qualification’ to speak on this… just wrong.

    • 19gundog43 says:

Dumb arse alert!!! What a moron DUH is perfect.

    • Yes, he does have the right to say what he wants, but the journalists involved in this, have the responsibility to put him on the air WITH that important piece of information about him, or not put him on at all. To be misleading in such a fashion is abuse of their position.

    • Johnnygard says:

Talk about miss the point. The problem is not the rapist giving his opinion, it’s the station airing it. Especially without disclosing the fact that he is a convicted rapist.

  2. Jumper82 says:

He he. He doesn’t want to get shot when he takes his next victim. What a bunch of morons to interview someone like that.

  3. Randy131 says:

Who better to interview about peace and harmony than a convicted rapist, perpetrator of the most heinous and violent crime toward women, oh, that’s right, advancing the agenda is much more important, for the ends do justify the means, just ask any liberal or look at the actions of WHIO-TV. WHIO-TV proves the point of what is more important to them, and it’s not about protecting women from a rapist, either before or after the crime.

  4. Centurian2010 says:

Does the liberal mind lack all logic??

  5. Saltporkdoc says:

I am a former Ohio police officer. I stll reside in the state. I have a concealed carry permit. “I never leave home without” them. I used to watch WHIO a great deal and worked with a former Dayton police officer. None of the details in this article surprise me!
Oh… WHIO did NOT try to interview me!

  6. Don says:

You don’t think the station will change it’s story do you?

  7. mwa says:

I’m confused–paragraphs 3 and 4 refer to a rapist and criminals AGAINST gun control. Isn’t the point that McCorry was advocating FOR gun control?

  8. James Maxwell says:

To bad his victims did not have a gun to blow his testicals off and prevent what happend
to them. Course some in the Democrat party do not see a probem with rape. But they
have security guards to escoret them and thier family menbers 24/7 unlike they rest of
us. They also oppose our right to have weapons to defend ourselves.

  9. Dempseycoleman says:

I guess the Bank Rober is for Gun Control as well

  10. pointdan says:

BOYCOTT WHIO – TV and its advertisers. Identify the idiot who did the interview. Put the station out of business.
We are beyond words – these Nazis want to destroy the Constitution and our way of life.
    It is time to act . . . .

  11. Ralph Haines says:

Criminals are the biggest supporters of gun control. Interviews with prison inmates revealed that their biggest fear when committing a criminal act was that they might confront a citizen with a gun.

It never occurs to a lame-brain liberal that the most important reason for owning a gun is to prevent violence and save lives. They’ve never gotten beyond the point of thinking the only reason for owning a gun is to kill.

In fact according to several private and government studies, guns prevent more than 1,500,000 acts of criminal violence each year.

  12. David says:

What the hell does McCrorry know about community harmony through peace and non- violence? The only peace he knows about is spelled “Piece”. I also doubt his rape victim felt the harmony or experienced a non- violent rape. Ask her her opinion on gun control. If she was for gun control before meeting this piece of crap, I’ll bet she is all for gun ownership now!!
